Garth Brooks cancellation 'costs promoter $1.35m' Shock as city council says 'no' to sell-out shows

IRELAND Aiken Promotions (AP) boss Peter Aiken says he stands to lose more than €1 million ($1.35m) over the cancellation of five Garth Brooks concerts scheduled for Dublin's 80,000-capacity Croke Park.

The sold out events, marking the country music singer's comeback, were set for 25-29 July, but were scrapped 17 days before they were due to take place, AP having "exhausted all avenues" after Dublin City Council (DCC) granted a licence for only three shows.
