UK-based international multi-event organiser Festival Republic (FR) has cancelled next year's Hove Festival (cap, 15,000), due to take place on the island of Tromøy in June.
MD Melvin Benn was unavailable for comment as Audience went to press, but a statement by FR, which is 50/50 owned by Live Nation Entertainment and Irish live music entrepreneur Denis Desmond, claims that the arrival of Denmark's new, publicly-funded Tinderbox Festival (25,000) has made Hove economically unviable.
