WAREHOUSE PROJECT TO PILOT UK'S FIRST CLUB-ENDORSED DRUG TESTING

Manchester's Warehouse Project is set to implement the UK's first club-endorsed drug testing initiative after the death of a man who attended the club on Saturday night.

Nick Bonnie, of Gloucestershire, is thought to have died after ingesting what police believe to be contaminated pills sold as ecstasy.

Due to launch on October 12, the new Home Office-funded system will see a trailer set up outside the venue where tests will be carried out on substances either confiscated by security...

As expected, often controversial streaming service Grooveshark yesterday announced that it had settled its legal battle with EMI Music Publishing and signed a licensing agreement with the company. Exact details of the deal are confidential.

Warner UK revamps top team post PLG acquisition

Warner Music yesterday announced a revamp of its top team following the mini-major's recent acquisition of the Parlophone Label Group, aka most of the European EMI assets Universal Music was forced to sell by the regulator when it bought the wider EMI record company last year.

Strike trois amended in France's Hadopi law

The French version of three-strikes has been revised so to remove the ultimate sanction of net disconnection, though a new fines system will be introduced that could penalise file-sharers earlier in the 'graduated response' process.

Spotify revenues double, though losses up too

Spotify doubled its revenues in 2012, but losses also rose as the streaming music platform seeks to expand in an increasingly competitive market.

Presswell confirmed as UK Ticketmaster MD

UNITED KINGDOM Live Nation Entertainment-owned Ticketmaster (TM) has appointed Simon Presswell as its new UK MD.

Presswell, who will be based in the company's London office, will be responsible for the UK operation of the business, which includes more than 500 employees across London, Manchester, Stoke and Glasgow.

Mystery at MAMA after CEO suddenly 'on leave'

UNITED KINGDOM Speculation surrounds the future of Dean James, CEO of festivals and venues owner MAMA & Company, following reports he has suddenly left the company.

James, who founded MAMA with business partner Adam Driscoll in 2005, is officially "on leave" according to the firm, with chairman Richard Thompson taking over the handling of day-to-day operations in the interim, as Audience went to press. Driscoll left the company in 2010.
